Hazard analysis is  the base for all safety related activities. The complete and correct identification of all potential hazards is essential to design sufficient mitigations to avoid or reduce potential harm. Any hazard that is not identified will not be mitigated and the result will be a hazardous system. A deliberate, thorough and detailed approach during the hazard identifications is of utmost importance. Checklists and the combination of knowledge from various domains as well as evaluation of existing information like standard requirements and incident reports are used to achieve a complete as possible coverage.
