Hazard Identification (HAZID) and Hazard and Operability Analysis (HAZOP) are used in process industries to develop a complete understanding of process hazards and to define the requirements for protective systems and safety integrated functions (SIFs). A correct and complete list of all potentially critical process states and operation scenarios has to be developed and all critical parameters of the process have to be clearly identified.
